Discussion: Depictions of Femininity in Tamil culture

In conversation with Sangamam on the Tamil culture's perspectives on Femininity and Womanhood.

Manju lives in Liverpool with my husband, son and daughter. Originally from Tamil Nadu, India, Manju has lived in the UK for the past 14 years . IHer Dad served in the Indian army and her childhood experiences of being exposed to diverse cultures, cuisines, religious practises and languages has contributed to her ability to appreciate and respect the diversity of India. She is an architect by profession and a core member of the Tamil organisation, Sangamam.

Manju engages in community activities revolving around Indian festivals like Holi, Navratri, Diwali etc. Interested in activities that provide opportunities to show creativity, skills and enjoyment through these various community events.

In her session Manju looks at Hindu traditions and customs with an emphasis on women in South India, particulary Tamil Nadu.
